Therapy for Children and Adolescents
Children and adolescents today face a unique set of circumstances.
It can be tough knowing how to best support young people because they haven’t always learned how to tell us what’s wrong. Therapy for children and adolescents provides a safe-space for them to gain valuable awareness and insights about their growing selves; learn and practice important skills; build resilience; and develop their inherent strengths.
Coming in for therapy can feel intimidating – especially for kids, but for parents too! Please contact us if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to be of help getting started.
Meet Jordan: our resident therapist for children and adolescents
Before joining us, Jordan also formerly worked as a Drama Therapist in inpatient Palliative Medicine, directly working with patients ages 18-102 and family members 4-90, focusing on grief and loss and emphasizing anticipatory and disenfranchised grief. Her experience, creativity, and warmth are the ideal combination for helping to build a collaborative (and fun) relationship.
Jordan offers therapy for children and adolescents both in-person and online, including on Saturdays and Sundays. Please contact us if we can help find a good time that works based on you and your child’s schedule.
What to Expect
Young people have unique needs. Therapy for Children and Adolescents is different from the standard process adults may be familiar with.
Schedule a Free Consultation
This free 15-minute phone-call provides an opportunity for Jordan to answer any questions you may have as well as provide important information about the process. This step is required before we can schedule an initial appointment for your child.
Scheduling an Appointment
After your initial consultation, we will schedule a initial 50-minute session. The system will automatically reserve this same day and time for recurring appointments. There is no obligation to continue, but this will make sure your child has a guaranteed spot to meet with their therapist moving forward.
Regular Appointments
Your child will meet with individually with their therapist either in-person or online for regular sessions. This allows for the development of positive rapport and a healthy, supportive relationship where growth and positive change can occur.
Appointments with Children and Parents
At certain points your therapist may wish to meet with parents either alone or with their child. This time provides an important opportunity to discuss progress, address particular concerns, or reinforce skills being learned and practiced.
