My approach to counseling is integrative, meaning I draw intentionally from a number of philosophies and backgrounds. I am firmly rooted in a person-centered, humanistic perspective, which embodies the idea that all of us have the capacity for healing and growth.

However, I also believe who we are and where we come from is highly influenced by our relationships. These relationships both help create and influence ourselves, each other, and the world around us. This makes them powerful agents to explore for change.

What does that mean?

Whether I am working with individuals or couples, my approach is led by warmth, compassion, non-judgment, and a genuine desire to create a supportive relationship. I strive to create and maintain a safe environment where everyone can feel seen, heard, valued, and empowered to celebrate their gifts and everything that makes them and their relationship unique.

Our time together is a safe place where we can explore parts of yourself and your relationship you may not have always felt comfortable or able to share with others. Together we’ll use a strengths-based, liberatory approach to identify and celebrate the sources of strength, resilience, and connection that are unique to each individual and relationship.

I honor our unique cultures, stories, and the wisdom of our intersecting identities and personal histories. This means maintaining a deep respect and curiosity for how your lived-experience has shaped your life or your relationship up to this present moment. I welcome you to share identities and cultural roots that are significant to you, and I encourage you to feel comfortable exploring them as part of our time together.

I work with every client from a trauma-informed lens, which champions informed consent, collaboration, transparency, and an intentional emphasis on creating a sense of physical and emotional safety. It’s important to me you feel comfortable knowing what to expect about the process. Please feel encouraged to ask questions and empowered to collaborate with me so we can co-create the ideal circumstances for accomplishing your goals and enjoy the full benefits of the therapeutic relationship.

My Background

The Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh said, “The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence.” When I began working as a student advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, I hung that quote on my wall, and it continues to be a driving force in how I try to live each day.

My passion for education and supporting others is only part of what eventually drew me to counseling. Growing up a proud queer and gender non-conforming (GNC) individual in the rural midwest led to an early start advocating for and supporting members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Professionally, in addition to working with students and families, I’ve also coached and mentored entrepreneurs, business owners, and artists to creatively bring their visions to life.

Even in my time as an administrator, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to support our clients here at the clinic. It’s my hope that with mindful presence and attention (even via email) I can support them during their time with us at every step of their mental health journey.

When I’m not working or studying, I love exploring all that Oregon and the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I spend as much time as possible hiking, enjoying the city’s amazing pizza scene, playing board games with my chosen family, cooking big meals, and greeting as many dogs as possible on trips to the park.
